International Space Station life 'to be extended'
Nasa has reportedly won White House backing to extend the life of the International Space Station for four years until 2024.
The ISS was launched in 1998 and is a joint venture between the US, Russia, Canada, Japan, and states in the European Space Agency (ESA).
There has been no word from any of Nasa's partner agencies as to whether they support the proposed extension.
It was previously thought that the ISS would remain operational until 2020.
