A cyclist has died after falling into floodwater in Oxfordshire.

The man, who was in his 70s, died at the John Radcliffe Hospital after getting into difficulty on Godstow Road, Wytham, near Oxford earlier.

Thames Valley Police said the man's next of kin had been informed but no formal identification has been made.

The Environment Agency said several flood warnings were in place in Oxfordshire, with about 12 homes flooded.

The man's death is the second related to the floods in Oxfordshire in recent days.

A 47-year-old man on a mobility scooter was killed while trying to pass a flooded pathway on Saturday.

He was pulled from Osney Lock, west of Oxford, but died at the scene.
