Farnham shooting: Dog breeder held after mother and daughter shot dead
An 82-year-old dog breeder has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a mother and daughter were shot dead.
Surrey Police found the bodies of a woman in her 40s and a woman in her 60s after reports a gun had been fired near Farnham on Sunday.
Four dogs were also found shot dead at the scene off Crooksbury Road, Runfold; three German shepherds and a Labrador.
The arrested man was named locally as John Lowe. Police said the women were not related to him but knew him.
Ch Insp Mark Preston said he could confirm that all the parties knew each other, but he could not say more about the relationships between the three.
A firearm was found in a secluded house with a quarter-mile driveway.
The women are yet to be formally identified.
Det Ch Insp Mark Preston said: "It is extremely sad that two people have lost their lives and police family liaison officers are working to support their relatives and friends at this very difficult time.
"We are conducting a full and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding these two deaths.
"However, at this time, we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the wider community.
"Officers remain at the scene conducting inquiries and will be on site for some time."
Post-mortem examinations are due to take place to establish the cause of the women's deaths.
Officers said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
