A teenager has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of his three school friends who died in a crash in East Lothian.

Robbie Gemmell, 16, was also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice following the incident in November 2013.

Jenna Barbour, 18, Josh Stewart, 16 and David Armstrong, 15, all from Dunbar, died in the crash.

Mr Gemmell, from Dunbar, made no plea or declaration and was bailed.

He appeared in private at Haddington Sheriff Court.

The Peugeot 206 the friends had been travelling in was said to have come off the road and struck a wall near Tyninghame on 25 November 2013.

The date of Mr Gemmell's next court appearance is still to be confirmed.
