Thorntons 'committed' to Britain's high streets

Chocolate maker Thorntons is continuing to make a "significant commitment" to Britain's high streets, the firm's chief executive Jonathan Hart has said.

His comments come after the company has reported a 47% surge in profits, due in part to its decision to trade more via supermarkets and wholesalers rather than through its own stores, and a strong performance in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr Hart also noted that the business's customer base continues to remain "very loyal".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 3 March.
