'Mayhem in court' - the front pages

Lee Rigby killers' sentencing, Russia's 'war footing' and 'snow alert' on front pages

The i front page, 27/2/14 The whole-life jail term handed to Michael Adebolajo for hacking Fusilier Lee Rigby to death in a London street leads many papers. The i uses pictures of Adebolajo and accomplice Michael Adebowale, who was jailed for 45 years.
Daily Mirror front page, 27/2/14 The Daily Mirror calls it the "murder that shocked Britain" and says the pair were dragged from the dock to "rot in jail". The paper says the pair "went berserk" as the judge told the fanatics they had "betrayed Islam".
The Times front page, 27/2/14 The Times describes the "mayhem" in court, recalling how Adebolajo screamed abuse at the judge and shouted: "You don't know anything about Islam." Guards struggled to control the men as they lashed out, the paper says.
Metro front page, 27/2/14 The Metro uses a large photograph of the murdered soldier and says members of his family were in tears during the hearing, with one needing medical treatment. The judge, it says, made sure they were OK before sentencing.
Daily Star front page, 27/2/14 The Daily Star uses an image of the makeshift gallows erected outside the Old Bailey by supporters of far-right groups. They demanded capital punishment be restored for the killers of Fusilier Lee Rigby.
Daily Mail front page, 27/2/14 The Daily Mail quotes the mother of a man who killed with a single punch as saying it was "an accident... not a big deal". Lewis Gill was jailed for four years for killing Andrew Young, who'd asked Gill's friend not to cycle on the pavement.
Independent front page, 27/2/14 The situation in Ukraine leads the Independent, which reports that tensions in the region have increased after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an urgent test of the combat-readiness of his nation's forces in the area.
Financial Times front page, 27/2/14 The Financial Times leads on the same story, saying the show of military strength prompted US Secretary of State John Kerry to warn that any sign of intervention would be unacceptable to Washington.
Guardian front page, 27/2/14 The Guardian uses a photograph showing thousands of people waiting for food in a Syrian refugee camp. Its main story says police have identified 10,000 British women and children as at risk of serious harm from domestic violence.
Daily Telegraph front page, 27/2/14 Plans to allow married couples to draft their own divorce settlements using an approved financial formula have been put before ministers, the Daily Telegraph reports. It aims to spare people the cost of lawyers' bills, the paper says.
Daily Express front page, 27/2/14 A day after its stablemate, the Star, predicted a "sizzling spring", the Daily Express warns that winter will "roar back". The UK faces wintry showers before the weekend, with up to eight inches of snow forecast in some areas, it says.
