Man dies after being hit by car in south Armagh

A 58-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car in south Armagh.

The accident happened on the Newtown Road between Newtownhamilton and Belleeks just before 17:30 GMT on Friday.

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of a number of road traffic offences and is currently assisting police with their enquires.

The Newtown Road remains closed between the Outlecken Road and Carrickrovaddy Road.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
