Liverpool man 'seriously injured' in crossbow attack
A man has lost part of his ear and finger and suffered substantial leg injuries when he was shot with a crossbow in Liverpool.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was attacked in Davidson Road, Old Swan, at about 17:00 GMT on Thursday.
His injuries not thought to be life threatening, police said.
A man aged 22 from Old Swan and a boy aged 16 have been arrested on suspicion of assault. A 38-year-old woman has been arrested for drugs offences.
Forensic examinationDet Ch Insp Phil McEwan said: "This was an horrendous attack which has left a man seriously injured."
He said the man was "subjected to a sustained assault and suffered significant injuries" which included the "partial loss of an ear and finger as well as substantial injuries to his legs, believed to have been caused by a crossbow".
The victim is receiving treatment at Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
Det Ch Insp McEwan added: "We are still working to establish the full circumstances of this incident."
A property remains cordoned off for examination by specialists.
