Heavy rain warning for south Wales

Heavy rain warning for south Wales

Heavy rain The rain is expected to fall in 'short, sharp showers'

Heavy rain and winds are expected to sweep across south and west Wales, with up to 25mm (1in) of rain on Sunday.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for rain, meaning people should be prepared for severe weather.

It said further flooding was likely, either from surface water caused by the rain or by exacerbating existing problems caused by recent bad weather.

The rain is expected to fall through the morning before clearing from the west on Sunday afternoon.

A BBC weather presenter said the rain would come through quite quickly, arriving around breakfast time.

"There will be some short, sharp showers tomorrow morning and possibly some snow on higher ground. It will be wet and miserable for a while," she said.

"There is an area of low pressure coming over the week which will see temperatures drop."

The week could see the coldest snap of the winter so far.
