Defending champion Scott Waites was beaten in the first round of the BDO World Championship by Alan Norris.

Yorkshireman Waites failed to win a set as Yeovil's Norris blitzed him 3-0, securing the victory with a bullseye.

Waites, 36, is the eighth defending champion to lose in the first round.

England's three-time world champion Martin Adams plays Canada's David Cameron later on Saturday. Adams will play last year's beaten finalist Tony O'Shea if he comes through unscathed.
